This case is the formation of an alliance between Fiat and Chrysler in the midst of the financial crisis as a means to save Chrysler from liquidation. The case traces the events that led to the alliance, discusses an early stage, to which the partners have to deal with some of the issues discussed and the management is considering merging the past and Chrysler Daimler, which ended in failure. Case of a normative approach to alliance management and speculation about the success of Fiat-Chrysler alliance. We address whether Chrysler is a suitable partner, and whether there is strong justification for the alliance and whether the two partners are compatible.
