While stories are informed through pictures, in the event of cartoons, pictures are also told by stories. A theory of cartooning suggests that animations reflect public sentiment toward dilemmas. As such, cartoons are a useful way of estimating and tracking public sentiment over time. This informative article uses a historical animation evaluation to track public sentiment toward issues.
