In the past few years, leaders have come under increased scrutiny and criticism for the levels of compensation they receive. At the same time, the practice of corporate environmental design and review of executive compensation programs have received increased attention. While some recent executive misconduct entailed a violation of the law, many scholars and other corporate critics view the issues related to executive compensation more ethically than the legal point of view. Several dimensions of the executive compensation decision-making process provides opportunities for moral choice. Defines the basic components of executive compensation and major decision points in the design and management of each component where ethical issues may arise.
