After a two-year absence in the financial industry, Tom Henne assess their abilities and decided that he could use his knowledge of the inner workings of the pension fund and to start a new firm, Equinox Asset Management (Equinox). Despite a recent article, which condemned the ability of pension funds to have returned, which made no more than a mirror average, Henne saw his fund can beat the market and achieve alpha. He suggested that this success can be by differentiating Equinox Fund in several ways from the typically large and well-branded funds of banks and insurance companies.
