Founded in Mumbai, India in 2011, Ekohealth Management Consultants Private Limited helped its subscribing members by negotiating bulk discounts with hospitals for all planned operations and reducing their monthly bills by indicating low cost generic drugs rather than high-priced brand title. It corroborated ethical health care practices by eliminating the referral fees that doctors habitually demanded from pharmaceutical companies, pathology clinics, hospitals and other medical professionals in exchange for directing patients to them.
The current price metric contained an individual price point: the annual membership fee of INR1,500 for up to five members of a family. The business has plans to move into other Indian cities by mid-2014. Is the single cost metric proper for all these new markets?
