eHomemakers: Crossing Borders into Singapore Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The eHome makers project was founded in 1998 to provide employment and skills for disadvantaged girls in Malaysia. The women usually worked at their homes, by weaving baskets from the recycled magazines, which could have been used to generate income. This indicated that self-support was particularly beneficial for stay-at-home mothers and disabled women who were not able to work due to their circumstances.

In Malaysia, which guided the creator to consider crossing the border to Singapore to investigate opportunities in that state to avoid having to give up on her social enterprise completely, the enterprise was struggling for viability by 2011. Ming Hao Wong is affiliated with National University of Singapore.
