Describes the political consequences in the United States purchase Dubai DP World in London on the basis of the Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P & O). Since P & O operate some port terminals in the United States, DP World received approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. before the P & O shareholders approved the deal in February 2006. However, the noise of the port security erupted in Congress and in the press, and this noise led DP World to promise that it would abandon the U.S. terminals P & O. Also includes a brief description of Dubai and its relationship with the U.S., to discuss issues related to security of ports, and a brief history of U.S. security to foreign direct investment.
