Now that his own kid thus alleviated some of the pressure on Mak and was fiscally separate, he was wondering if he should retire soon and if it made financial sense for him. He also wondered what the immediate consequences of retirement would be and if semi-retirement was a workable option.
To that end, he could work with a partner and shift control to that partner at some point; he could work at his clinics part time; or he might be able practice out of the remaining one and to close one clinic completely. Mak also considered retiring entirely at the end of the year. Mak critical internal battle: part of him longed to reach the freedom to travel was brought by appraising his choices, yet he experienced great emotional satisfaction when he attended an arrival and saw the happiness that birth gave the parents. Mak wondered whether, in his specific instance, the cons were outweighed by the pros of retirement.
