Diamond Cab has developed a business model to aid improved transportation for wheelchair users. The model advices that services considered as social welfare can in fact be lucrative, as wheelchair users have increasingly needed better transportation beyond inconvenient rehabilitation buses and cabs that are commercial. Diamond Cab has investigated cultural norms of Hong Kong and the regulatory environment to provide its award winning service, its initial success has taught a lot to other cities. As a social enterprise nurtured by Social Ventures Hong Kong, a venture philanthropy fund, it confronts the challenge of soliciting more investment and ability to escalate the operation with a larger fleet of taxis and eventually return monetary and social dividends to the investors of the fund.
