In the study of strategic information systems (IS) alignment, it is important to consider the related processes over time, and not of the alignment as an isolated event. This article focuses on how organizations go through a number of interrelated changes in business strategy and a strategy to increase the coherence between them. Mainly based on a detailed study of the case of changes in the long period of time in the three organizations, research shows that the process of adaptation and change, which allows alignment occurs, is more complex than previously thought. Despite the efforts to achieve consistency between IS and the business really is sometimes possible, they often go astray. There are three of these potentially problematic path - excessive conversion paradoxical solution, and uncertain repairs. This article lists some of the factors that explain why the organization can pursue these problematic paths and offers some suggestions for avoiding them. "Hide
