Denver Public School (DPS) is the largest school in Colorado district, while DaVita HealthCare Partners (DaVita) are a Fortune 500 healthcare services company that specialized in kidney dialysis. By the year 2011, DaVita and DPS decided to enhance the focus on culture and leadership within the district. This unique corporate-community partnership had developed the focus on leadership and culture over the past two years.
During the months of the 2013-2014 school year, DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg, DaVita “Mayor” Kent Thiry, and member of their team analyzed the past performance, accomplishments, and the challenges encountered by this partnership. After this successful partnership, Kent Thiry and his team decided to develop more partnerships in order to increase their social initiatives as a company, without drawing away the attention from DaVita’s own growth and expansion.
This case describes that how a leading company can develop the partnerships with social communities to take initiatives on Corporate Social Responsibility by leveraging its own resources, skills, and HR expertise.
