In almost the same fashion that novel experiences are being facilitated completely by technology - from shopping to collaborative working - there's a growing realization that digitalization can enable a completely different way. To leverage this chance, we should move beyond just adding an online component to traditional face to face learning (blended learning). Rather, we must adopt a more integrative strategy that seamlessly links the circumstances where learning takes place - be it a classroom, the workplace or a customer's premises - to obtain a state the writer’s term as “omnilearning”.
This can disrupt several of the present systems set up, enforcing a shift from instructional design to learning experience design. As such, professional development goes from being an aggregation to being a constant journey guided by data driven insights of
distinct actions. For Chief Learning Officers, the effort will not be inconsiderable but continuously more beneficial.
