The case scenario describes the rise of CCD with over 1,400 cafes in India, as the top coffee chain in India. In early 2013, the world's leading coffee chain business, Starbucks, started its first 11 factory outlets in India's metropolitan cities with Tata local giant, and promises of a national roll out. CCD management debated whether there was plenty of room for both Starbucks and CCD in the large growing market in India, or whether Starbucks' entry required CCD to respond more assertively.
