Leadership traits:
The concept of participative leadership is based on considering the opinions of workers. With the notion of developing friendly environment, Ben tried to consider the opinions provided by the employees. Some of his contributions mainly included the arrangement of picnics, holidays, and building of a fitness center. (Daft, 2018, 2015) In comparison, the leadership traits of Phil did not represent his attention towards the opinions of the workers. He was only concerned to operate the business activities in the way he wanted, and did not even take the empowerment. Thus, his key concern was to get the work done in an efficient manner.
Effective Leadership:
Considering the behavior and the leadership traits of both Ben and Phil; the management and leadership of Ben tended to be more effective. This is primarily due to the reason that although Ben lacked the capability to plan the work activities, but was more directed to the care of empowerment for the employees. As increased motivation and appreciation serve are the key drivers to bring significant improvement in the employees’ performance. Losing weak employees but also highly skilled employees under the leadership of employees would badly influence the organizational performance. Therefore, if I would be the boss of Phil Jones; I would first ask him to bring improvement in his performance regarding an inefficiency in work planning activities.
