Combating the Effects of Turnover: Military Lessons Learned from Project Teams Rebuilding Iraq Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Literature on turnover traditionally consists of research and analysis, which suggest that the turnover rate is malleable and can be reduced. We take the opposite view and argue that the turnover in some organizations do not change and remain in place. Possible, to reduce the harmful effects of the market without reducing the actual outflow of people? To answer this question, we have learned from the U.S. military during Operation Iraqi Freedom, in order to learn from the techniques that operations with a high turnover of staff in project management. In particular, we propose four best practices that reduce the negative effects of traffic, allowing themselves the speed remains constant. These recommendations are aimed at sharing knowledge and mental models crucial for sustained operations in order to protect the organization from the departure of key staff.
