Circus Oz was Australia's premier international circus. It was founded in 1977 on the four principles of collective ownership and creation, gender equality, the uniquely Australian experience and teamwork. Videocase mirror segment written case (SR-69) to study the proposal by Australia Council for the development finance officer position for two years, mostly as a way to increase revenue from corporate sponsorship and reducing dependence on public support. Australia council proposed salary for the position, which was significantly higher than even the highest salaries Circus Oz. Consequently, the leadership of the organization was concerned about the effects that deviations from their relatively flat wage structure would have on the morale of the company and culture. Videocase also contains footage of Circus Oz performance, providing a window on the relationship between the culture of the organization and its aesthetic. The segment covers videocase resolution dilemma around hiring development director and the decision to hire the candidate, Paul McGill. In particular, it focuses on the shift in the understanding of the position of "Director of Development" to director of strategic partnerships and the implications for the relationship between Circus Oz and its corporate partners (and not the sponsors).
