Interlaken Village which is in Shenzhen, China, is a copy of the Swiss village of Interlaken, which is a part of OCT East, an US$450 million investment in the thriving Pearl River Delta. This is a management strategy case for pupils to think outside the box about company strategies.
In normal competitive strategy literature, businesses should prevent being imitated or imitating others in order to obtain competitive advantages that are unique. This case, however, examines whether duplication can be a sustainable source of competitive advantage.
