Started in 1958 and headquartered in Mianyang- an evolving inland science and technology city in Sichuan Province, Chanhong Electric Co. Ltd, commenced from the military industry. It later enlarged to a wide array of sectors including black electronics, white electronic equipment, IT/communication, services and parts and then entered the color TV industry.
It is now an incorporated multinational corporation (combining R&D and manufacturing for the military business, consumer electronics, electronic components, etc.). This case scenario demonstrates how a large TV maker has transformed its internal controls to deal with both fiscal austerity and emerging practice that is international.
It exhibits the new fiscal management environment in China in 2014 for top firms and also the huge challenges involved in implementing new controls.
