The case introduces a group of health care professional (Care group) engaged and dedicated in providing health care service to a vast variety of patients residing in the area of Massachusetts. The health care service group was formed in October 1996, through the merger of three hospitals namely The Beth Israel Hospital, Deaconess Hospitals and the mount Auburn hospital. All three hospitals were located physically adjacent one another and merge in to one hospital.In which their entire departments were merged and head by one individual. Similarly, it was assessed that, the Mount Auburn hospital reported to Care group’s management as a separate entity, along with four others hospitals that were a part of the pathway networks initiated by Deaconess Hospital. The Care group offered a wide variety of health care services to a vast quantity of patient in a variety of settings. Which included academic health centers, community Hospitals, community health centers and physician office. All of these were established with the sole purpose to provide the best quality services related to health to its potential patients near their home or places of work. Which, in turn, enable the health care group to generate $1.6 billion in revenues and be recognized, as the second largest hospital in eastern Massachusetts. Furthermore, it can be determined that, the Care group hospital implemented an efficient IT infrastructure and management system to gain competitive advantage over its competitors.Available in the highly diverse and competitive health care industry and provide to cost saving advantages in its operations and management. Moreover, it can be assessed that the critical success factors of the Care group hospital were in-tune with the combined efforts of various hospitals and effective integration of its IT infrastructure and management system.
Problem Statement
The main issue illustrated in the case, pertain to the ineffective management of its IT infrastructure and management system. Which caused its IT system in 2002, to crash for four days causing havoc and a state of panic in its operation. Which, in turn caused the Care group to revert back to its paper based management system that had not been used for decades by the group henceforth, its staff and employees were not properly trained in this system. Which created tremendous challenges for its management to tackle its adverse effects.

Information and Assumption
After analyzing the case, it was estimated that the IT department, its IT infrastructure and management system of Care group was out of date and spec. Furthermore, the IT infrastructure of Care group formed, after the merger of three different hospitals was integrated with various departments and facilities in increments. Which put undue strain on the inefficient IT infrastructure implemented in the Group. Moreover, it was assessed that various users using or exploring the IT system were allowed to make small changes in the system, as they seem fit. Which although seemed minor at the time, but could be beneficial for the system in the long-term. Where these relative small changes could accounts to a major change in the systems infrastructure,and hurt the performance or adversely affect other parts of the IT infrastructure and its networks. Additionally, it was assessed that there was no expert present to monitor the proper functionality of its IT infrastructure and management system, and the Care group heavily relied on individual employee in their It department for the configurations of its IT management system.............
