This article discusses the basic cultural similarities and differences between American managers and their Russian counterparts. He also examines the applicability of familiar American management concepts relating to leadership styles, motivation approaches, certification systems for strategic planning and institutional configurations in the context of Russian culture. Some American management concepts - such as the legitimate government based on leadership style, employee relations policy, gainsharing, estimates based on team performance, strategic improvisation, and strategic alliances - can be successfully implemented in Russia.
