Question 1: Read the book-chapter 17 &18 and talk about what interesting to you (each chapter separate)?
The interesting thing that I learnt in this chapter is the implementation of the ERP in an organization. For the successful implementation of ERP, training should need to be done according to the end users which is essential that has been discussed in the particular chapter. Along with this, the other processes which are used to implement ERP is to develop an architecture along with the selection of the components. Furthermore, the sequences of process are defined, while activities are chosen amongst those the activities are implemented.
The company which is installing ERP would need to enter the various set of activities and processes with little amount of changes which shall remain automated. However, the higher ratio of processes and activities are those which needs the assistance of an employee to enter the information and also to retrieve the information. Therefore, the training of employees to use the SAP software would require great deal of understanding and learning.
The chapter discusses an interesting example of the benefits of an ERP through the conversation of a salesman at a car deal who has been approached by a customer. The customer wants a specific car to which a salesman assumed that the car was available or it would prompt the salesman to ask a higher authority level manager to get knowledge about the car. However, the presence of SAP or any other ERP software would have provided easy information about the car in few easy steps and would have allowed the salesman to better negotiate with the customer.
Moreover, another interesting this in the ERP implementation is to define the entire company’s processes and link them with the ERP software so that the information could be embedded and retrieved. This is explained through a diagram which illustrates the various business processes of a company which enhances the value of their customers. In order to understand the interaction of an ERP system with the company’s business process Swimlane chart and diagram is constructed and then the employees are trained.
The future of the business process management is highly meaningful since it aims to design, organize, monitor, and control the entire business processes and activities. Without managing these activities which are referred to as the core and the supporting activities, the company would not attain success. In the future world, it is not just necessary to deliver the desired services, but it is also necessary to organize the entire business processes so that it could deliver the required customer satisfaction.
Question 2: Use the attached file (BPM and E-business), and what interesting about BPM & eBusiness?
The most important thing that I have learnt about Business Process Management is their use of designing, formulating, monitoring, and evaluating the business process. According to the file, the most important thing is the delegation of the decision making power that shall be rested with the workers and the low level employees. It focuses on the idea that an organization must increase the value of their stakeholders since they contribute highly to the firm’s revenues.
Moreover, the concept of business process management allows a company to perform its business efficiently through managing and governing the tasks. It ensures that each of the company’s core and secondary processes are met with higher priority. Along with this, it provides an accountability process to the organization where measures for control and making improvement in the process can be made.
The interesting thing that I liked about e-business is their core task of conducting the business over the internet. While in comparison with the physical business setup, it is very beneficial as it does not relate to any cost associated with the office expense and other related cost. Therefore, it reduces the overall cost and targets a large market which is present over the internet.
