British Columbia NICU Bed Allocation Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Executive Director of Newborn Services Program of British Columbia (BCNSP) thinks about his recent meeting with officials from the British Columbia Ministry of Health (MHS). Following the report that in 2007 to 2008, the province has sent 98 pregnant women and newborns in the United States for treatment, the province is considering adding more neonatal intensive care (NICU) capacity. Political pressure is growing after one of Canada's national newspapers covered the problem in the first band. MHS asked the executive director to offer bed allocations and other improvements to address the situation.
