In 2003, the Norwegian Parliament amended the Public Limited Companies Act to be able to achieve greater representation of women on corporate boards. As stated by the change, all state-owned companies and public limited companies were required to have at least 40% women on their boards. This case uses firsthand accounts from Norwegian directors to document the Norwegian business community's reaction to the quota Norwegian boards sought women directors, as well as the transferability of the quota law to other countries.
