Bay Partners (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In April 2010, Salil Deshpande has lately resigned from Palo Alto, California-based Bay Partners (Bay) where he had been a general partner. Although Deshpande had assembled a successful history in the venture firm, he resigned with two other Bay general partners as disagreement about internal economics and government persisted along the Bay’s six-member management team.

This triggers the "key man" paragraph in the limited partnership deal of Bay's most recent fund, Bay XI. The case considers the choices as fund's futures and the firm is thrown into doubt that the Bay XI limited partners and Deshpande face.
