The board of Babbitt Ranches had formally accepted an establishment. Babbitt Ranches was a fourth generation, 122 year old family business with extensive landholdings in Arizona. The firm's board recognized duty and responsibility to community values, environmental, economic, and organizational through multiple bottom line criteria in the new constitution.
In addition, the tradition of the family was bolstered by the constitution by outlining a doctrine designed to direct procedures, interactions, and critical decisions. The board that could be assessed using the framework provided by the constitution was considering several business opportunities. The challenge for the Billy Cordasco, the firm's president, was to operationalize the establishment to appraise the current set of opportunity and to make sure the constitution was used as a "touchstone" for business decisions on an ongoing basis.
