AT & T once dominated virtually all sectors of American telecommunications. In 1984, AT & T was broken on the new AT & T and seven operating companies, known as the RBOCs (regional operating companies Bell) or Baby Bells. This case covers the period from 1984 to 2000, during which AT & T has gone through a series of tumultuous change. AT & T bought and then sold, the computer company NCR. AT & T bought McCaw Cellular Inc. nearly $ 12 billion. AT & T highlighted its equipment division into a new company Lucent. AT & T invested more than $ 100 billion in the acquisition of various assets of cable television. Finally, in 2000, AT & T announced a broad restructuring plan, which will break up the company into separate wireless broadband, business long distance, and the consumer long distance companies.
