A world-famous ski resort exposed to global climate change, the actions of Aspen regularly garner media attention, which can boost its causes.
But these initiatives, which try to compel other companies to enhance their environmental performance, risk a public relations backlash and charges of "greenwashing" given that Aspen's ski resorts are themselves environmentally intensive operations.
