An Overview of Cameroon Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This case series was created to illustrate the specificities of rivalry in poor and developing markets and, more especially, competition at the Base of the Pyramid. It is composed of an industry note: two company cases, a country note, and four files. The business cases describe the competitive dynamics between two international telecom businesses, Orange and MTN, in the Cameroonian telecom market. Every company case commences with a terse history of the firm, followed by a description of the company's international strategy and of its entry into Cameroon.

It goes on to describe the competitive dynamics in Cameroon from the business's outlook, and, particularly, the moves and counter moves undertaken by each opponent to obtain market share. Eventually, the case describes the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, in Cameroon and worldwide. The case series also include two background notes. The first note describe the essential technical features of the cell phone industry and the evolution. Taken collectively, this case series lets a discussion of rivalry at the Base of the Pyramid, including both company and ethical aspects.
