TITLE AND ABSTRACT:

The purpose of this case study is to provide comprehensive analysis of an online health services and consultation providing company, American Well. It was co-founded by two Jewish brothers;Ido Schoenberg and Roy Schoenberg. The real inspiration for both the brothers to lay the foundations of this comprehensive online medical consultation company was the time consuming and costly medical system of the country.

Ido started his education of medical sciences for a physician at the Tel Aviv Sackler School of Medicine in Israel.In the late 90`s and his brother, Roy, was a graduate from the Hebrew Medical School and University. He started his career back in Israel as an internal physician before moving to the United States of America. Roy started Care Key with the support of independent investors.
The company provided digital systems for health management and updated it and it was this company where both the brothers started to work together. The aim of both the brothers as the management of this company was to reduce the barriers of communication and consultation between the patients and their doctors. This organization proved to be the learning ground for both of them as they shared ideas and gained immensely important experience in the field of entrepreneurship.

The company was a success for them as it expanded and attracted immense health care insurance companies and patients towards the entity. It was the first company in the industry to introduce the personal health records systems for the patients online along with many other facilities and this transformed the system of the medical industry of the country. However,the company was sold to an early partner and investor, TriZetto Group by the end of the first decade of the 21st century.

It was during vacations when Roy thought about the discussions and the ideas that he had with his brother and realized that there were too much opportunities and improvements that needed to be cashed in and improved to enhance the effectiveness of the medical industry of the country and further increase the confidence of the key relevant players and stakeholders that are affected by its policies and the business structure.

The American medical system was very complicated and time consuming to be precise as patients had to make appointments weeks early before seeing a doctor and after getting the appointment, they had to wait for a long time to get checkup.The lack of adequate presence medical facilities and physicians at the rural areas of the country also served as a reason for the creation of the company.

To focus on these issues of the industry they introduced an online health care company for the patients to take consultations from the physicians about the general illnesses that they were facing. The company was a success as its customers and market grew exceptionally with in few years of its creation and both the co-owners of the company were satisfied with the performance of the organization as per its capacity initially. The company also succeeded in attracting some major private health care insurance companies to partner with the company however, some of them had reservations about the working structure of the company.

The dilemma for the management of the company is to devise the future plans of the organization and they are at the jinx of several options that they could consider as the next priorities of the company. Both the brothers and co-owners of the company are of the view to expand the company in the other domestic markets of the country whereas, they are also considering an option to launch the company in other countries as there are immense opportunities in the global medical markets. The management of the organization is also thinking and considering attracting more health care insurance companies and it is planning to launch a new service of the company, team edition, and through this new service the management of the organization wishes to further enhance and develop its previous service by including the services of specialists in their panel. This new service of the company will allow the patients to consult the physician and the specialists simultaneously as the three of them will be linked if necessary......................
