AltSchool: School Reimagined Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Max Ventilla and his team establishes in 2013 AltSchool, a new network of tech-informed independent K8 “micro-schools.” AltSchool was established for the reason of Ventilla’s frustration with the schooling choices available for his young daughter. During his search, Ventilla comes to the final outcome that American schools are not sufficiently preparing students for the future.

Ventilla focuses on three facets: 1) using technology to lessen operational costs of the traditional school, 2) intense concentrate on customer service and reframing school as a service for parents, teachers, and pupils, and 3) using technology and data in the classroom to develop a continuous development cirle. As Max and AltSchool group sum up their beginning year operation, they conclude with lessons learned from iterative procedure; they reflect on the most effective means for the team to develop their network of schools, to demonstrate success to their investors, and to get an effect on altering education in America. The case gives pupils the opportunity to investigate how new education technology tools can be built by an instruction technology business, and change school structures and capital models to set the stage for a fresh model for the education sector.
