All You Need is Love: Southwest Airlines and the Wright Amendment (B) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The second of a three-case series, this is a classic business-government relationships (BGR) challenge for Southwest Airlines. The A case gives due consideration to the difficulties SWA had with opponents along with the Civil Aviation Board in earlier years of trying to fly through the passage of the Wright Amendment in the late 1970s.

The scenario was subsequently updated by 25 years into the near future when SWA was a large airline, and the events of September 11, 2001, hurt the short-haul business of low-cost airlines. This case scenario looks at the opportunity to update the inquiry performed in the A case scenario in the frame of reference of mostly strategic and political viewpoint of Southwest and Love Field having altered.
