Through the study of the current position and future plans for a small, independent oil and gas exploration company, they will find challenges of growing through acquisitions and the risks associated with the expansion of the limits of the company's core competencies. The case includes an overview of the industry, the history of Oleum Resources Ltd., and the opportunities that it should reconsider its business strategy to expand the innovative but risky ASP technology.
