This case looks at the challenges facing the three National Football League (NFL) team in 2004: Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers. The case is written from the point of view of a consultant who will be moderating the debate on business management challenges faced by NFL clubs. Each of the three clubs profiled face different issues in 2004. The Cardinals struggled with poor attendance, is the date of the stadium, and public reluctance to fund the new entity. Texans, a new team, which played its first season in 2002, built their franchises. 49ers, once one of the elite league franchises, struggled with poor performance on the field, the salary cap limits, and outdated facility. Matter prepares students to discuss the priorities of business management, including competitive success, financial success, and increasing fan loyalty and support. "Hide
