BIG BAZAAR Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Describes the rapid growth of Indian retail, Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd, and two of the company's formats - Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar. Problems of students to discuss the concept of the company, its strategic decisions on how quickly she would like to grow, and some of the key decisions for their supply chain. At the time of the case (2006), small "mom and pop" stores continue to dominate the Indian retail, but it was quickly changed due to the entry of an "organized" retailers such as Pantaloon. Pantaloon management faced some interesting possibilities, as well as some potential competition from global retailers who are planning to enter the Indian market and the large Indian business houses that are planning to create a retail business.
