February 19, 2005, British Airways, flight 268, 747, took off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) went to Heathrow Airport in London. It will be a 11-hour, 5,000-plus miles of flight. Shortly after takeoff, only 296 feet in the air, one of the four jet engines exploded. Pilots had to determine what action to take: to immediately return to Los Angeles, or to continue the flight.
