Chad-Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Chad-Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project (A) Case Solutions

There was a diversion between World Bank’s as well as IFC’s board of directors to vote regarding approving financing for the $4 billion Chad-Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline project. Although the project presented an unique chance to relieve poverty in Chad, among the weakest nations on earth, Chad had a president who'd been labeled "warlord" and a history of civil war and oppression. This case describes the setting, the job, and the World Bank's reasons for participating in the deal--primarily a chance to relieve poverty, apply environmental standards, and minimize the impact on native people. In addition, it describes the very enthusiastic and very public resistance to the project's environmental, societal, and sales management policies. Faced with a high risk, but potentially high-yield opportunity to enhance conditions in Chad, pupils, as the managers, must determine whether to approve financing for the deal.

This is just an excerpt. This case is about  FINANCE & ACCOUNTING
