Amul’s IT-Enabled Service Delivery to Dairy Farmers Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Limited (Kaira Union), a member union of the popular dairy brand Amul, was using information technology (IT)-enabled services to help individual dairy farmers with very small herds in India. An example could be that, the technical input signals for the veterinary services were supplied through veterinary centres located near clusters of hamlets. The inventory was better managed by the veterinariansin order to improve service delivery, and manage their courses, the union had created a centralized veterinary call centre staffed in any way hours of the day.

The call centre had resulted in substantial savings in the price of service and improved the efficiency of service delivery. The managing director of Kaira Union wanted to expand the call centre to contain the operations of the union in the states of Maharashtra and West Bengal. Nonetheless, he wasn't certain whether the current design was capable of facing the challenge. Harekrishna Misra is affiliated with the Institute of Rural Management. S. R.
