Challenging Confucius: Western banks in the Chinese Credit Card Market Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

China ordered a great interest on the part of almost all sectors of American business. Chinese credit card market is currently particularly intriguing to Western banks. This article discusses the strategic deposits that Western banks should pass, as they try to compete in the Chinese credit card industry. For example, Bank of America (BOA)-fresh from the purchase of 9% per annum in China Construction Bank (CCB) a few years ago, are now considering a joint venture with CCB. The new company will be appointed to lead the Chinese credit card market. In particular, two issues are addressed: (1) whether the Chinese banking market audio options at this time, and (2) whether China provides optimal conditions for the loan. The analysis provides some strategic lessons and encourages caution on the part of Western leaders of the bank, as they enter the Chinese market. In particular, BOA officials should evaluate possible evolution of their joint venture. In addition, BOA officials should seriously consider the financial companies that are not credit of the Chinese culture should be particularly resistant to serving as the revenue base of customers in the short and medium terms.
