In the month of October 2007, the OLPC reported production hiccups and neglected its cargo date. In early November, the $100 PC eventually went into production, with initial shipments planned for Uruguay and Mongolia, and mid-month established the "Give One, Get One" software.

Approximately half of $400 amount were apportioned for purchasing an OLPC for the consumer, where as the other half was assigned to funding a notebook for a child in another nation. The application drawn-out and was popular. However just as things were looking up for the non profit, Intel announced that it would be partnering with the non-profit corporation and resigned from the board of OLPC in early January 2008. According to the Intel, the move was a consequence of force it established from OLPC to stop advertising its own low cost Windows-based notebook, the Classmate.
