The ConvenientMD case emphasizes the function of ambiguity and emotion in business interactions. ConvenientMD, directed by co-CEOs Gareth Dickens and Max Puyanic, managed urgent care facilities (UCCs) in the northeastern USA. UCCs are medical facilities that provide treatment for a number of illnesses and injuries at a portion of the cost of hospitals. The case, which scrutinize ConvenientMD in its blossoming and high-growth years, is broken up into two vignettes. In the first vignette, Puyanic and Dickens had started an UCC in Hampton, New Hampshire. It was clear the CEO of Hampton Hospital felt otherwise, although they considered that ConvenientMD could coexist peacefully with the city's biggest health care provider, Hampton Hospital. Wanting to establish a positive association with Hampton Hospital, Puyanic and Dickens scheduled a meeting with the CEO.
In the second confession, Dickens and Puyanic were trying to find a place for an UCC in Pelham, New Hampshire. After some bad luck, Dickens and Puyanic had a fantastic chance. Based on a member of the local zoning board, a site that had previously been described unavailable was now offered to Puyanic and Dickens. According to the board member, the website would be theirs if they "take the appropriate steps."
