In July 2007, Wachovia Corporation's CEO is delighted with a details that show the business's record-setting second quarter results. In the previous three months, its earnings have doubled and posted record sales, mostly attributable to the large consumer real-estate loans associated with the Golden West Financial acquisition that's led to the growth of the bank.
The transition of Golden West into the platform of Wachovia was easy and rapid, despite their cultural, geographical, and merchandise-offering difference. The CEO was thrilled that the acquisition provided new occasions for financing in what were professed as less risky market, mainly single-family home mortgages with rates that are adjustable. But he questioned if there were any adjustments needed to pull ultimate value from Golden West.
