At the commencement of August of 2008, Dell Inc. (Dell) seems to be at a critical juncture. The come back of Michael Dell a year and a half past has brought significant change to the business, comprising a shift in the business's distribution strategy, a focus on growing market segments, and an emphasis on design in Dell's product lineup. A portfolio manager is attempting to evaluate if Michael Dell's return to the helm of Dell Inc. and the firm's shift in distribution strategy will turn around the firm's stock price.
To prop up his assessment, portfolio manager has asked his team to assemble comparative financial data on Dell and its key rivals. The portfolio manager needs to know if he should buy, hold or sell the shares of Dell.
