In July 2008, the cofounders of TripIt, a free online travel organizer that aggregated voyagers' bookings from many top travel Websites, had recently procured $5.1 million in new funding. While the co founders considered that their company offered travelers a unique service, they felt growing pressure from investors to reveal that sales could grow and reach profitability.
TripIt desired not only to grow its user base but also create more traveler itineraries, which was crucial to getting advertisements earnings from travel suppliers and intermediaries, to be prosperous.
