On the May 16th, 2007, India-based Hindalco Industries, an ancillary of AV Birla Group of businesses got the US-Canadian aluminum giant Novelis. The acquisition was the result of an arrangement arrived at between Hindalco and Novelis on February 10, 2007. The acquisition expected to be the industry price leader with a presence over the entire aluminum value chain from mining to final aluminum products - and resulted in formation of a Fortune 500 company - the world's biggest producer of aluminum.
