Vineland Research along with Innovation Center, a not-for-profit organization looking to work with the Ontario local food industry, has requested two researchers to examine the local food business landscape and propose a technology-driven solution that links farmers in Niagara region with buyers in Toronto.
The case illustrate the challenge confronted by each stakeholder in the local food supply chain, and allow the students to examine the farming and restaurant sectors, assess the present Canadian marketplace, and investigate technological progress that could empower enhancing the current local supply chain procurement and distribution model. This case enables students to identify gaps and competencies within the current environment, challenges facing opportunities to drive growth in a marketplace that is new and restaurant communities, together with the farming.
