The concept for Dubailand initially came up in early 2002 as part of the nation's efforts to diversify the sources of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by broadening the tourist market offering. The response; established by the Dubai Development and Investment Authority; was the starting concept behind Dubailand-- the development of an internationally competitive home entertainment and leisure center. In April 2006; Christian Perdrier; existing CEO of Dubailand; was approached by a headhunter based in London about the Dubailand task.
In between February 2007 and December 2010; the CEO will have to turn a strategy into a fact; opening a leisure and home entertainment complex of 27'000 hectares; employing the very first wave of the 250'000 individuals who will eventually work in a center that will consist of lots of style parks; hotels; property and retail systems.
