Panic has shaped human behaviour for a long time, also today, it continues to do so. However, attention to anxiety in organizational life - to what effects, and how and why it's experienced - has received little attention. The authors argue the most crucial consequence of fear at work is silence on the section of workers. They describe four types of silence that affect innovation across industries and productivity: Non-Deliberative Defensive Silence, Schema-Driven Defensive Silence, Deliberative Defensive Silence and commence an innovative one, Habituated Silence.Furthermore, they describe the concept of 'voice effectiveness', and demonstrate the best way to develop it in oneself and in others in an effort to mitigate the devastating effects of silence.
