Subsequent to a successful split-away of Conoco in 1999, management at DuPont participated in a decade-long confrontation to relocate the company from a mature worldwide petrochemical business to a leader in the biotechnology. In the year 2010, president along with CEO Ellen Kullman thought about the best way to place DuPont for future growth and to structure her organization.
