Sasol, the world's largest producer of synthetic oil from gas and coal, has announced plans to build a large Catalytic cracker and gas -to-liquids plant in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This $21 billion endeavor is going to function as the single largest foreign direct investment in US manufacturing history.
The plants, on 1,600 acres next to the firm’s existing cracker, will liquefy 98,000 barrels daily, converting ethane to the entire endeavor is determined by low gas prices engendered by the shale revolution and oil prices that are relatively high. The dangers are profuse, as is the promise.
