The case follows Jim and Debbie Aung -Din Taylor, an American couple with foundations in international development, as they positioned and build a social business in Myanmar, Proximity Designs. In the commencement, the Taylors are focused on redesigning the treadle pump for Myanmarese farmers, utilizing design thinking and procedures to formulate a pump that is affordable to their goal customers that were incredibly impoverished.
But, the Taylors soon recognize that they also have to establish a distribution network as a way to sell their products. On the way, a natural disaster (Cyclone Nargis) and political reforms in the state create both new challenges as well as new opportunities for Proximity.
